Poe 2 How To Make Money
Being an indie crowdfunded project that's all about emulating the glory days of CRPGs, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire isn't for your typical casual audience. Due to its specific niche in the gaming community, the game can sometimes present its players with several inconveniences that can hamper the experience in the long run.
There might also be players who prefer simpler stuff or mechanics as the CRPG in question can get a bit too complex for comfort. That's where mods come in. Just like any other game that's flexibly moddable, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, has a community that has taken it upon itself to effect some much-needed enhancements to the game.
10 Fair Trade – a trading mod that adjusts the prices
Earning money in the Deadfire archipelago can be a tall order, especially with the piling expenses of upgrades and ship add-ons. The merchants don't make it easy either because their prices are too low to justify selling your treasures.
Thankfully, Fair Trade fixes this unapologetic daylight robbery. The game will adjust all the selling prices to roughly the buy value of any item you sell to them. The change seems small but it can kick off a domino effect where you actually get more excited in your treasure-finding adventures; the items have more value now.
9 Trinkets (Finally) – adds custom trinkets to the game
Upon opening Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire's inventory screen, you might be shocked to learn how many items you can equip to each character. Unfortunately, trinkets can be rather elusive or lackluster, which will annoy those who want all their inventory slots filled.
The Trinkets mod alleviates this concern a little bit by adding some valuable items for the trinket slot. The mod presents you with 11 unique trinkets all of which you can purchase from Sanza's shop in Neketaka. Now you don't have to juggle those trinkets between characters.
8 Unique Companion Armors
The armors in Deadfire have a similar issue with the trinkets since they can be somewhat unimaginative and there's little to no midpoint between awesome and plain. Companions also tend to look wacky when given some armor pieces.
Unique Companion Armors thus gives them something else to wear that won't interfere much with their fashion sense. The mod adjusts the armor for certain characters so that the default ones can be upgraded. These characters are:
- Xoti
- Serafen
- Tekehu
7 TT1 Unique Items
There are already tons of weapons and other gear in Deadfire that enable certain builds to become overpowered. However, not all character builds are viable, which can restrict certain playstyles.
TT1 Unique Items is a good mod to address this apparent shortcoming. The mod gives plenty of new unique weapons to the game; they're all user-made and some of them can be a little too generous. Still, it's a great enhancement for gameplay. Do note that the items are expensive and can only be bought in Wild Mare.
6 Character Creation More Colors
Deadfire's character creation, as intricate as it is, comes off too pale or somber when it comes to color palettes. Most of the colors look like they belong to old and worn-out paintings. A little vibrance is needed, and that's what Character Creation More Colors offers.
It's a mode that tweaks the character creation menu by adding more colors and color hues. The color spectrum is widened considerably, allowing you to create more funny-looking or eccentric characters. They're borderline pirates anyway.
5 6 characters in party
By default, you're only allowed to have four companions in your party in Deadfire. While this is rather generous compared to other party-based RPGs, it's still a bit conservative considering the number of available companions in the game.
That's why a mod called 6 characters in party aims to make the party more inclusive. The mod merely increases the party limit by one but that's still a substantial improvement in-game especially when it comes to combat. For some, this can also function as a cheat mod.
As meticulous as the developers go in Deadfire, there are some spots in the game that are not polished enough. It befalls the community to make their own tweaks, especially since attending to each and every piece of feedback can be a daunting task for the studio.
Community Patch handles those feedbacks as much as it can. It's a mod that functions more like an unofficial update for the game. The mod is essentially a large collection of updates that re-balance the game and iron out some of the bugs or glitches.
3 Enhanced User Interface
Deadfire's user interface can get confusing or clunky especially for anyone who's had their fill of AAA titles. It also doesn't help that most of the UI elements are dark and tend to sink into the background. Even the most functional buttons or dials in the game lack contrast.
A mod like Enhanced User Interface improves this significantly by implementing some simple tweaks. One of those UI elements it overhauls is the color grading, adding more contrast and visibility to certain functions or prompts. The package also includes new icons and some re-colored keywords.
2 MQ Portraits Pack
An aspect of character creation in the game that can leave something to be desired is the portrait selection after you've finished with your in-game avatar. They can be lacking in variety or your character simply can't be represented by the portraits on offer.
The MQ Portraits Pack adds more spice to the selection. The mod pack gives players lots of new portraits all made by the modder and the community members. They're also carefully made to adhere to the game's art style and lore, so they fit right in.
1 No Friendly Fire Mod
Combat can get messy in Deadfire. This is especially the case in the real-time mode where a misplaced spell or characters walking into a field of fire can ruin an encounter and lead to a frustrating quick load.
You can soften the blow a bit or even prevent some mishaps from happening during combat by employing a mod called No Friendly Fire. It's self-explanatory and quite a godsend for anyone with a spellcaster in their party.
